This aircheck shows Carl Como was definitely one of the Go Guys.
He had that WOKY sound.
And man could he keep a show flowing!

"That's by the Goodies called Condition Red - one from our survey on the Mighty 92 ..."

Crimson & Clover was #1, "Ski Report" was brought to you by Coke,
and the Carl Como "Nick Name Contest" was in full swing ...
(the 'Sweet Bippie' moniker was yet to be awarded)

Bill Shannon (6/06) writes  -  Jack Lee may be able to provide more background but Carl Como (aka "Sweet Bippie"...hey Laugh-In was hot at the time) was on fire on this check.  I do believe this particular check is from a weekend shift.  Tight, bright and playin' the hits.  The jingles were PAMS, the Program Director was in fact George Wilson.

Carl Como later went into radio station ownership including WYXE/WWQM-FM in Madison, WI in the mid to late 70's.  What he's up to now I simply don't know.  He truly is one of the many reasons why WOKY was "Mighty" in those days.  A well produced and put together radio station top to bottom.

I scoped this down to it's present day length with grease pencil and razor blade in the early 80's. I no longer own the unscoped version - that tape died a painful death not long after I did the editing. Also, please pass along my best regards to Don Metzger when you see him and Jack Lee as well.

Note: As with all our aircheck exhibits, songs have been 'scoped out' so we don't go to jail. In this aircheck, some spots were shortened. But it is still a rare example of the wide and wonderful world of Carl Como on the Mighty 92.
